Airport Tax In Cyprus

Airport tax has recently increased in Cyprus. The government and the Cyprus Airports operator, a private enterprise Hermes, has increased the passenger tax to £7 per person.

This tax is levied on all passengers from all destinations and on all age groups.

A further increase in Airport tax is due later in the year, but no fixed date has been given.

The increases have been challenged by the tourist board and other tourism based orgainisations They have stated that the increase in tax, will price Cyprus out of the European tourist market. Tourism numbers have been falling over the pass few years.

Hermes, the operator, has defended the tax rise by refering to the extensive renovation work currently being undertaken at both Larnaca and Paphos Internation Airports.
