The Troodos Mountains

Most travellers to the island of Cyprus spend their holiday by the sea, and who can blame them. But there is more to Cyprus than just the coastal regions.

The Troodos mountains are the highest peaks in Cyprus, with Mount Olympus rising to 1952 metres above sea level. There is much to do in this region with many walks and sightseeing opportunities to be had, with many quaint villages in the area to be explored.

Two of the largest villages are Platres and the village of Kakopetria. Both have many hotels and restaurants to cater with all travellers needs. The local tourism offices will be able to assist with all your needs.

Since my father is from Kakopetria, i will be biased and say that it's the best place to base yourself whilst exploring Troodos.

Give the area a try, you will not be disappointed.
