Paphos
The Town of PaphosThe town of Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. Paphos, a small harbour town, on the west of the island, which was the former historical capital of Cyprus. Paphos has thousands of years of history; and has always attracted visitors from all over Cyprus and international travellers. Paphos has a modern town centre and a nice picturesque harbour where the main tourist area is situated. There are numerous ancient sites scattered around the Paphos region,m many of which are now UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. Paphos also the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. Petra Tou Romiou (Aphrodite's Rock) is the site of her birth, located 15km east of Paphos Town. Paphos has a nice coastline with some charming Cypriot villages in its mountains, where life has not changed for centuries. |
